【2018 Contact TAIWAN Career Talk at MCU】Medical Director, Merck Group in Taiwan, Mr. Sudipto Chatterjee shares his experiences about working in Taiwan.
2018 Contact TAIWAN Career Talk was organized by the Department of Investment Services, Ministry of Economic Affairs; implemented by Taiwan External Trade Development Council, and co-organized by 9 well-known universities. The Career Talk is to build a direct platform between global talents and enterprises to facilitate professional talents recruiting in Taiwan.
Contact TAIWAN has organized 7 Career Talks in NTU, NTUST, NTNU, MCU, NCNU, NTHU, NCTU, NCKU and NCU around Taiwan, gathering more than 700 foreign students from overseas in the first half of the year. During each event, Emile M.P. Chang, Director-General of the Department of Investment Services, Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) would introduce Contact TAIWAN website as the particular talent recruitment platform integrating related information and providing 24/7 on-line matching for both foreign job seekers and enterprises searching talents in Taiwan. Director-General Chang encouraged all foreign students to fully utilize Contact Taiwan for job hunting in Taiwan and share their learning experience with people on an international job site. Furthermore, the foreign students could also start their own business with Invest Taiwan in the future.
A total of 28 enterprises in semiconductor, optoelectronics, ICT, biotechnology, and financial service industries attended the Contact TAIWAN Career Talk this year. According to the post-event survey, the representatives spoke highly of the achievement with Career Talk as a great channel reaching out to global talents. It also provided opportunities for face-to-face interaction between enterprises and overseas talents. HR from Taiwan Micron stated, “Contact TAIWAN is a very important partner for Taiwan Micron to hire international talents to work for us. We are enthused to hire global talents, the Career Talk sure created an adequate opportunity for Taiwan Micron to introduce our company and meet the talents on a global scale.
The foreign students expressed their gratitude for the Career Talk. In each Career Talk, we found that foreign students paid close attention in all details and asked questions enthusiastically. Moreover, there were so many students came with their resumes just because they could talk directly to the representative onsite. Some of them even registered for other sessions of Career Talk to have more opportunities to know more companies.
The result for the Career Talk in the first half of 2018 concluded successfully in promoting the services of Contact TAIWAN to its members, global talents and local enterprises. For the second half of 2018, the Department of Investment Services, MOEA and the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) are planning on organizing 10+ more Career Talks at different universities.
