New discoveries of Perperikon after nearly 20 years of archaeological research

After nearly 20 years of archaeological research, the rocky city of Perperikon continues to reveal secrets of ancient life. Archaeologist Prof. Nikolay Ovcharov gave new information about the whole architectural ensemble called "Thracian palace sanctuary - metropolitan complex".
He added that he was preparing a book about Perperikon. According to him, the ceremonial throne room, almost 30 meters long, is located in the center. In the palace there is a temple devoted perhaps to the eastern deity of Mithras and another dedicated to the dead, having 12 tombs with a dungeon, but they are plundered and exist only as architecture.
The archaeologist added that "father of thracology" Professor Alexander Fall defines Perperikon as one of the Thracian principal capitals, and perhaps it is the centuries-old Dionisus, where Alexander the Great came.
