Though the year has just started, the airline companies working in Ukraine have already announced plenty of interesting news like flights to Serbia, Malta and other destinations, new price of hand luggage transportation by WizzAir and UIA, and even a new airline company entering Ukrainian market.

New Routes

Starting from June 2, 2019, Air Serbia will resume flights from Belgrade to Kyiv after a 3-year pause. The company already put these tickets on sale, so travelers can currently book them for the dates before the end of summer schedule – October 27. The routes will operate twice a day on Tuesdays and Sundays. The planes will depart at 7 AM and 6.05 PM from Belgrade and at 10.35 AM and 21.40 PM from Kyiv. The one-way ticket will cost around EUR 139; the flight will take around 2 hours.

Air Malta company will double the number of direct flights to Ukraine for the summer season. This will happen on April 26, 2019. The routes will operate twice a week: at 4 PM on Tuesdays and on 8.40 PM on Fridays from Malta, and at 9.05 PM on Tuesdays and at 01.45 AM on Saturdays from Kyiv. Currently the company offers Kyiv-Malta flight only once a week – on Fridays.

This autumn Ryanair opens four new flights from Kyiv to Germany. In the second half of October, Ryanair will launch flights to DUSSELDORF, FRANKFURT, CARLRSEV, and NURBBERG. The company did not announce the opening of new flights, but tickets are already available on the website.
Aigle Azur French airline company has recently announced launching of regular direct flights Kyiv-Paris starting from April 18, 2019. The flights will operate three times a week. The planes in Paris will depart at 10 PM on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, while the planes from Kyiv (Borispyl airport) will take off on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays at 4.30 AM. The round ticket price will start from EUR 274.

The airline lowcoster giants – Wizz Air and Ryanair – are going to launch more flights from Ukraine in 2019. The Minister of Infrastructure Volodymyr Omelyan has announced WizzAir and Ryanair flights from Odesa this summer.
While new routes are opening, some old ones are closing. WizzAir has recently announced that it cancels its Kharkiv-London flight from February 10, 2019, due to the lack of demand for this route.

New Hand Luggage Transportation Rules

On January 15, 2019, Ukraine International Airlines restricted their hand luggage transportation rules for all flights. Now passengers are even not allowed to bring duty-free items on the board. The travelers with tickets that do not include transportation of registered luggage can go inside the plane only with up to 7 kg of hand luggage with dimensions not more than 55х40х20 cm, and also their overcoats and umbrellas. All other items and accessories such as laptops, newspapers, cameras, documents and duty-free products have to be placed inside hand luggage.

On January 17, 2019, the first Ukrainian lowcoster SkyUp announced its rules for luggage. The passengers are allowed to take hand luggage with dimensions 55х40х20 cm, a small ladies` handbag or laptop bag, overcoat and duty-free packs. The weight of hand luggage must not exceed 7 kg. If the ticket includes luggage transportation, a passenger is allowed to take one suitcase with weight up to 23 kg and height up to 158 cm. The additional luggage will cost EUR 25 for a suitcase and EUR 40 for a suitcase with weight 23-32 kg.

The famous Hungarian lowcoster WizzAir has also recently changed its luggage transportation rules.
