On November 12, a joint declaration was signed in Vienna to strengthen cooperation in the field of communications, information and communication technologies and the development of 5G technology between Austria and Belarus.

The document assumes the assistance of Austria in the use of existing tools and other forms of joint work in the field of information and communication technologies to accelerate the development of broadband and digital technologies, including 5G. Belarus also provides advisory assistance in developing a regulatory framework for a competitive and favorable investment environment.

“It is pleasant to note that the process of developing a roadmap for deploying a 5G network in Belarus does not stand still and that representatives of the Belarusian government have studied our proposals. We welcome the decision made by the Belarusian regulator on close cooperation with the Austrian side in developing a competitive environment in the field of ICT, in particular - introduction of the 5G communication standard in Belarus. Today Austria is among the leaders in Europe in terms of the timeliness of the auction for the sale of frequencies for 5G, the volume of frequencies and the involvement of operators with knit. This experience would undoubtedly be useful to the Belarusian side, "said Alejandro Plater, chairman of the board of SBT, founder of the A1 unitary enterprise.

Today, A1 is developing a 5G network architecture. The initial number of base stations that can be used for effective coverage is determined. Back in 2018, A1 company submitted an application for the allocation on commercial terms, equal for all investors, of the radio frequency spectrum that meets the requirements of international 5G standards.

“Holding A1 Telekom Austria Group, of which our company is a part, has repeatedly stated its readiness to join the implementation of this project, including providing the necessary investment support. And these plans remain unchanged to this day. A1 Telekom Austria Group is sincerely interested in the early arrival of 5G to Belarus and is ready to offer her knowledge, experience and opportunities for the successful implementation of this advanced communication standard, "said Helmut Duz, Director General of A1.

Unitary Enterprise "A1" has been engaged in commercial activities since 1999. Currently, 100% of the company is owned by A1 Telekom Austria Group. Since 2008, when A1 became a part of an Austrian telecommunications holding, the volume of investments in the national economy exceeded 670 million euros, and the amount of taxes and fees paid to the budget exceeded 820 million euros.

The operator began commercial operation of the 3G network using HSPA and HSPA + technology in March 2010; 4G has been providing 4G services in the network of the beCloud infrastructure operator since March 2019.
