According to the report of the Polish Economic Institute, the value of exported services in the creative economy increased three times in almost a decade. In terms of the share of the creative sector in exports, Poland holds an eighth place in the European Union.

Creative economy is the part of the economy based on intellectual capital. These are industries such as architecture, consulting, research companies, design offices, digital services, culture and marketing. According to the PIE (Polish Economic Institute) report, the total added value created in these sectors increased in Poland from 4%. in 2010 to 6.3% in 2018.

In the period analyzed by PIE experts (2010-18), the average annual increase in value added of companies from the digital industry amounted to as much as 17%. In 2010, the added value of the digital sector amounted to PLN 12.1 billion, and in 2018 amounted as much as PLN 41.7 billion. One of the important factors of the digital industry’s development was growth of Polish video games industry. At the beginning of April this year, CD Projekt, the producer of the "Witcher" series of games, became the most valuable company on the Warsaw Stock Exchange with a valuation of PLN 27 billion.

According to the report’s authors the digital economy is the embodiment of changes that have been taking place for several decades – processes such as advancing technological revolution and digitization may even speed up due to COVID-19 pandemic.

“The growing importance of the creative economy will probably continue in the coming decades, as the main factors behind its development so far - fragmentation of production processes, digital revolution and changes in supply chains and the structure of social needs - will not cease "- predicts PIE.

Hopefully the scenario of dynamic development of creative industries after the pandemic will come true, because without creativity there is no innovation. And without it, long-term and mature economic development is impossible.
