The Global Gaming Expo (G2E) Asia Show is the latest event to be cancelled due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The show was originally scheduled to open in May, but the organizers of G2E Asia first announced the event will be delayed to December in March, but now just announced that this year’s event will be cancelled to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

This is the first time that G2E Asia has ever been cancelled since it started in 2004. G2E Asia was scheduled to take place on May 19th to 21st at the the Venetian Macau Cotai Expo, but due to the spread of the COVID-19 epidemic, the organizer later decided it is best to cancel 2020 G2E Asia. The organizers the American Gaming Association (AGA) and Reed Exhibitions announced that G2E Asia will return to the Venetian Macau on May 25-27, 2021.

“G2E Asia made the difficult decision to postpone its 2020 shows as continued travel and restrictions present too much uncertainty for holding successful and safe events this year,” Josephine Lee, Chief Operating Officer of Reed Exhibitions China, said in a press release. “In consultation with our customers, exhibitors, and local authorities, we explored every option to safely hold these programs this year, but ultimately found the best course of action is to postpone for 2021.”

Global Gaming Expo Asia (G2E Asia) is the premier Asian trade event and the largest regional sourcing platform for global gaming and entertainment products. G2E Asia services suppliers by enabling them to showcase new products, meet qualified buyers and establish new contacts. Annually, more than 95% of the top Asian casino operators were at the show. Held in Macau-the heart of Asian gaming and one of the fastest growing gaming markets in the world, G2E Asia is the hub where professionals network and conduct business.

According to The Business Research Company, the global gambling market is expected to reach $565.4 billion in 2022. Asia-Pacific is still expected to be the largest market for gambling, accounting for around 32% of the global total. Taiwan, as a global technology hub, has been one of the biggest software and hardware suppliers for the world gaming industry. TAITRA will continue to organize a delegation to exhibit in next year’s G2E Asia, with a goal to bring to the world new technologies and products from Taiwan.
