The Netherlands is known as a bicycle country. With the combination of the popularity of sustainability are e-bikes more popular than ever. In the Dutch world sustainability is an increasingly important topic in the society. The Dutch prices for e-bikes are of course still higher than normal bikes, but the last few years the competition on the e-bike market was high. This also means the supply increased and that why the prices went down. At the moment for every budget, there is an electric bicycle. From research the main reasons people are buying an e-bike is convenience, less psychical strain, speed and environment. From research the sales number of e-bikes is around 1.2 million. The majority of this number are electric city bikes, followed by mountain bikes, hybrid bikes or electric cargo bikes.
In the past, the image of e-bikes were that they were only for lazy people. But with the fact that Dutch people are becoming more aware of a healthy life combined with the popularity of sustainability it’s the reason the e-bike becoming more and more popular in The Netherlands.
