Florida’s Diabetes Rates Double in Adults

According to a new study conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the diagnoses for diabetes among Florida adults have doubled over the past 20 years. Currently, it’s estimated at over 2.4 million people that have diabetes and over 5.8 million have pre-diabetes symptoms in Florida. According to the CDC, one out of three adults will have diabetes by the year 2050. Both the Florida Department of Health and the Leon County Department of Health have expressed their concern about those numbers and are working to come up with solutions that will manage and prevent diabetes.
