Main Mexican airports report air cargo traffic increase

The January-August period of 2018 ended with a significant growth in cargo traffic for the main airports in Mexico, except for one, according to the Mexico´s Directorate General of Civil Aeronautics (DGAC for its acronym in Spanish).

The San Luis Potosí airport is the only one, out of the eight main airports, to report a drop-in cargo handling. It accumulated 16,396 tons, a 6% decrease compared to 17,527 tons accumulated in the same period of 2017.

The Mexico City International Airport registered 380,550 tons. This resulted in an increase of 10% compared to the 346,112 tons last year.

Next on the list is the Guadalajara International Airport, which reported a total of 106,092 tons, 1% more than the 104,785 tons registered in 2017. Monterrey, on the other hand, had a 3% increase when contrasting this year´s 35,926 tons with the 34,774 tons of 2017.

The Intercontinental Airport of Querétaro reported a 47% growth after 201,942 tons were reported, Toluca reached 23,786 tons, 20% more than the 19,840 tons of 2017. Cancun reported a cargo traffic of 21,115 tons, 11% more than the 19,037 tons last year. Lastly, Tijuana registered a 13%, as it accumulated 16,514, compared to 14,568 tons of last year.
