TAITRA organizes Taiwan Pavilion to participate in Japan's largest content licensing exhibition

This is the third time that the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) organized Taiwanese brands to participate in this industry-leading exhibition platform.

Japan's largest content licensing exhibition (Content Tokyo) will be held at Tokyo Big Sight, April 3-5, 2019. This is the third time that the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) organized Taiwanese brands to participate in this industry-leading exhibition platform. The mission is to assist Taiwan's original brands, characters, animation productions, and art licensors expand to international markets. With the support of the Bureau of Foreign Trade, we will promote Taiwan's cultural and creative potential and strive toward cross-industry, cross-platform and cross-market cooperation opportunities.

 

TAITRA has organized 15 brands at the Taiwan Pavilion, which is the largest overseas participant at Licensing Japan. The co-exhibitors cover original character, art IP, VR, animation production and AI. Taiwanese companies such as: the trending brand ‘STAYREAL’, which already had a number of shops in China, Hong Kong and Tokyo,; original character ‘OPEN-CHAN’ operated by ‘President Chain Store Corp’.; IP-‘ECSTASY’ which is famous in Taiwan and China; ‘Majimeow (YongRui Co. Ltd.)’ ‘Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation’s’ partner; ‘Cite Publishing Ltd.,’ the Influential Publishing Group in the Chinese Publishing Industry; ‘Hooloop’ whose VR-related product was honored with a Taiwan Excellence award; ‘Lisa Everfashion Corp.,’ which actively cooperated with an Italian brand in recent years; ‘Art Studio Serials Characters,’ the Taipei Illustrator Festival Creator; IP -‘Shibasays,’ the popular graphic illustration animation company - “next animation studio”; ‘Magic 9 Productions Co. Ltd.’; ‘Shinwork Technology Co. Ltd.’; gaming company ‘SIGONO’; as well as AI companies ‘Nuwa Robotics Ltd. and ‘LIPS Corporation’.
 
According to Licensing Industry Merchandisers' Association (LIMA) annual report statistics, the global licensing market potential in 2017 reached US$271.6 billion in retail sales. Japan is the world's third largest licensing market with a total revenue of US$12.5 billion. It is also a thriving licensing market in Asia. Content Tokyo is Japan's largest content licensing exhibition, there are eight co-expos, including Licensing Japan, Production / Studio Expo, AI Expo, Content Marketing Expo, and Advanced Digital Technology Expo, which bring together much of the latest licensing content from Asia and around the world.
 

In the year 2018, a total of 1,236 brands from 39 countries participated in the exhibition, attracting more than 42,000 buyers to attend the exhibition. It is an important B2B platform for Taiwanese IP to engage with global licensing agents, product manufacturers, publishers, channels, and the media.
