The financial technology companies (fintechs) that offer credit, payment, or savings services in the country have invested US $1.3 billion to develop the sector, reveals a study by the consulting firm KoreFusion. According to the Fintech Report on Latin America 2020, Mexico is the 2nd country with the greatest number of companies of this type operating in the region, with an estimated 249.

Fintech companies focused on credit are the ones that have developed their technology the most in the country, with investments of up to US $941 million; followed by means of payment with US $206 million and the neo-banks with US $98 million.

According to the study, the fintech companies focused on the digital payments segment are those that have grown the most in the country in recent years; those that profile to have the greatest increases are the business financial services, those that provide services, and those specialized in remittance transactions.

Those that have decreased their participation are those that carry out collective funding operations and those that give credit to the population, while technologies such as crypto-currency or blockchain do not have great penetration in the country.
