Cyclone Manufacturing Received C$1.5M To Enhance Canada’s Aerospace Manufacturing

A Canadian company that builds precision parts for a long list of international aerospace companies, including Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, and Lockheed Martin, is launching a major expansion at its facilities in Mississauga, Ontario.

Cyclone Manufacturing Inc. has received $1.5 million in federal funding to increase production capacity, expand its services, and grow its customer base in Mississauga, Ontario. The Ontario government said it will contribute $5.2 million to the expansion through the Jobs and Prosperity Fund.

The statement also said that Cyclone Manufacturing will use the funding to buy and install new equipment, expand facility space, and introduce new advanced production lines to help the company produce and finish specialized aerospace components for OEMs.

The project will enable Cyclone to undertake processing work that’s currently performed outside of Canada, create 60 new jobs, and provide upskilling for 100 employees at the company’s four facilities in Mississauga and Milton. The major plant expansion project aims to boost the company’s competitiveness, improve its energy efficiency and cut costs. Along with the extra 80,000 st. ft. of floor space in Mississauga, the province said Cyclone is also looking at adding a new facility in the long-term.

The company’s president Andrew Sochaj said the project marks the start of a “new chapter” for Cyclone.

“Cyclone’s partnership with the Government of Ontario comes with a strong commitment from our company to increase employment, advance innovation, and remain a global leader in aerospace manufacturing…With this investment in the latest production and finishing technologies, Cyclone will be able to offer even greater innovation and flexibility for our valued customers,” he said in a statement.

Founded in 1964, Cyclone Manufacturing is a vertically integrated full-service provider of 3-5 axis machining, sheet metal fabrication, tube bending, welding, and structural assemblies of aerospace structural components. currently operates three manufacturing plants in Mississauga, one in nearby Milton, Ontario. and another in Poland. 

Aerospace is a key component of Ontario’s advanced manufacturing sector. It directly employs more than 21,500 people across more than 200 companies, and an additional 17,200 indirectly. Ontario’s aerospace industry is the second largest in Canada, representing close to a quarter of all Canadian activity. The province is home to a globally renowned landing-gear cluster, as well as major global aerospace companies.
