Statistics: Nearly 20% annual growth of industrial production in Bulgaria

Industrial production increased by 0.9% in July 2022 compared to the previous month . Data are preliminary and seasonally adjusted. In July 2022, a 17.7% increase in industrial production was registered compared to July 2021. This is shown by the calendar-adjusted data of the National Statistical Institute (NSI).
The growth of production by sector compared to June
An increase compared to the previous month was recorded in the production and distribution of electricity and heat and gas by 12.7%, in the mining industry - by 3.9%, and a decrease in the processing industry - by 1.6%.
A more significant decline in the manufacturing industry was observed in: production, not classified elsewhere - by 17.8%, production of tobacco products - by 16.9%, production of cars, trailers and semi-trailers - by 10.7%, production of medicinal substances and products and production of metal products, excluding machinery and equipment - 8.1% each.
A significant increase was registered in: the production of vehicles, excluding cars - by 10.1%, the production of computer and communication equipment, electronic and optical products - by 9.1%.
Production growth on an annual basis
Growth compared to July 2021 was recorded in the production and distribution of electricity and heat energy and gas - by 51.7%, the mining industry - by 17.9% and the processing industry - by 12.1%.
More significant growth in the manufacturing industry compared to the corresponding month of the previous year was observed in the production of computer and communication equipment, electronic and optical products - by 50.6%, production not classified elsewhere - by 44.3%, production of vehicles, excluding cars - by 32.7%, the production of beverages - with 29.7%.
The sectors in which there is a decrease in production
A decrease was registered in the production of tobacco products - by 20.7%, the processing of hides; production of shoes and other products from treated skins without hair - by 11.3%, printing and reproduction of recorded media - by 4.4%, production of chemical products - by 4.0%, and in the production of textiles and textile products, excluding clothing - with 2.7%.
There is virtually no movement in retail
In retail trade (excluding trade in cars and motorcycles) in July 2022 there was no change in turnover at comparable prices compared to June. Data are preliminary and seasonally adjusted. Retail trade turnover decreased by 0.7% in July 2022 compared to July 2021.
