Non-alcoholic

Non-alcoholic beer has been on the market for about five years, and Poland sees such a market grow rapidly with growing interest from the consumers, according to the recent research.

According to Mr. B. Morzycki, the head of Association of Brewing Industry Employers (“Polish Breweries”) over the last five years, it has been noticed that Polish consumers are actually looking for the taste of beer without giving up their daily activities. This trend has made it a necessity for the brewery companies to meet rapidly growing demands of buyers.

In Poland, beers that fall into the category of non-alcoholic have between 0,0% to 0,5% of alcohol. Usually they’re branded as “zero”, “light” or “free”.

As of today NA beers make 6.5% of the total beer market value. Poland is located at the very top of producers in EU, making 12% of the yearly volume of N/A beers. According to R&D company NielsenIQ, in 2018 there was a record breaking rise in volume and value of N/A beers – 85% and 80% respectively. The double digit rise continued in the coming years. In 2021, 9 out of 10 sold N/A beers had 0.0% of alcohol. At the moment the overall value of the market exceeds 1 billion PLN.

"When looking at the development of the non-alcoholic beer category, it is worth knowing what products it covers. We include both beers with trace amounts of alcohol, between 0.01 percent. and 0.5 percent, as well as those completely devoid of it, i.e. 0.0 percent," said Morzycki. "The breweries, responding to the tastes of consumers, are constantly expanding their offer of beers marked 'zero,' 'light' or 'free,'" he added.
