Moreover, the gaming landscape is marked by the dominance of mobile gaming, with an impressive 49 percent of players engaging on a daily basis through their mobile devices. The mobile video game "Stumble Guys" stood out as the favorite among Romanian gamers, reaching the most app downloads in 2023 (1.27 million).

Romanian eSports players are the best at Dota 2

eSports has surged in popularity in Romania, carving out its niche within the gaming community. Romanian eSports players have demonstrated their prowess on the global stage, with Aliwi Omar (nickname "w33") leading the way by winning an impressive 2.29 million U.S. dollars in prize money. Dota 2 was the video game Romanian eSports players were most successful at in 2023, having 57 players winning a total of 2.7 million U.S. dollars. Although the niche is dominated by male gamers, Ana Dumbravă (nickname "ANa") managed to be the only female eSports playerto classify in the top 10 players in 2023, by winning 62.5 thousand U.S. dollars in a Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament.
